SOFA Chicago 2014 | #thinkdavis

Each year, the panel at SOFA proposes a topical theme. In 2014, the panel encouraged submissions to include elements of interaction & sustainability. With limited monetary resource, the team was drawn to cardboard as a workable material.

Structurally sound, abundant, light, and beautiful.

Cardboard is conventionally seen as a waste material, but it has a huge array of uses ranging from storage, to shipment, to construction. There is a long tradition of crafts surrounding cardboard. This project aimed to tap into the beauty of a conventionally discarded material and use it as an educational exhibition and social media campaign.

My roles on this project were creating prototypes, organizing them on our production sheets for efficiency, handling our social media campaign, documenting our process, and making executive decisions about creative direction.
